RememberToDance.org and the Annual Alzheimer's Benefit Dance are both organized by Joe Bahr, brother of the late Marty Bahr who died of early onset Alzheimer's in 2008.
Since Marty's passing, Joe has worked tirelessly to promote the mental benefits of square dancing and to raise money to find a cure for Alzheimer's.
With the support of the Sky Valley Whirlwinds Square Dance Club, Joe and other Square Dance Clubs in the Seattle area sponsor an annual fund raising event with the proceeds benefiting the Rush University Alzheimer Research Disease Center (ARDC) and the University of Washington Alzheimer Research Disease Center (ARDC).
Square Dancing is one of many ways to fight the onset of Alzheimer's. It combines exercise, a social atmosphere, and mental activity which all help to increase brain function and promote healthy living.
