An annual square dance to raise funds for Alzheimer’s research brought in more than $4,700 for programs at the University of Washington and Rush University, said Joe Bahr, who started the dance seven years ago to honor his brother, Marty Bahr, who had early onset Alzheimer’s. Marty Bahr died in 2008. All proceeds from the dance, organized with support from the Sky Valley Whirlwinds Square Dance Club, went directly to the universities’ Alzheimer’s research programs. About 20 squares of eight dancers — about 160 attendees in all — filled Edmonds Masonic Hall for the Feb. 23 event. “It was absolutely incredible,” Bahr said. |
